This drawing took me about 6 months to finish. Every day I would go for a walk in the forest ( I live right on the edge of a hundred square miles of forest ) to find fresh specimens to draw. Towards the end of the drawing I decided that I wanted to find a dead bird to put at the golden section, and I found one, a varied thrush. This piece is what I consider to be a ' Momento Mori'. The title refers to the 'Quickening' in the pagan use of the word meaning the unseen force that animates life.
