I have an enduring love of the Natural Sciences and my favorite branch of this study is Biology. I was beyond thrilled when I was commissioned to do a permanently installed drawing on the broad subject of Evolution for the Biology wing at Western Oregon University as part of the Oregon Percent for Art collection, https://state-of-oregon-art-collection.org/final/Portal.aspx?lang=en-US . The mission behind this work was to represent life from the single cell to intelligent life; I choose the octopus for this role. Underneath this density of form lies a matrix of interlocking circles, creating a feeling of balance. The central motif is a DNA spiral in giant kelp. This drawing took many months to complete.
