This Lichen drawing came from studying lichens in Iceland for the research I was doing for a commission for the Natural Sciences building at Western Oregon University as part of the Oregon Percent for Art collection, https://state-of-oregon-art-collection.org/final/Portal.aspx?lang=en-US . The aim work was to explore the physical substance that our earth is created from and lichens are integral to that ongoing process.
